The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our clients busy Mental Health facility.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right person who is looking for a challenging and stimulating role. The position is that of a senior registered nurse with training, qualifications and experience in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry and assessing and treating patients who present with acute and chronic mental health disorders or behavioural disturbance while admitted under a general medical, or surgical bed card.

The clinical position providing psychiatric nursing consultation and liaison to general medical and surgical hospitals including oncology and emergency departments as well as support and guidance to the broader Consultation Liaison team.

Key features including but not limited to risk management, treatment planning, providing informal and formal care, education, research, leadership, peer support and advocacy.

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, your responsibilities will include:

  • Demonstrate strategic and high level relationship building tools, cooperation, conflict resolution, influencing others and facilitating open discussion
  • Demonstrate recent leadership and management experience including change and safety leadership, coaching and development, motivating self and others and managing and measuring performance
  • Ability to drive culture, encompassing person centred care, adaptability, respecting diversity, innovative thinking, application of evidence into practice and self-management
  • Achieve results including management of resources, service delivery, problem solving and professional and technical competence
  • Ability to work independently with appropriate supervision as well as consulting and collaborating with others to deliver outcomes
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • An awareness of own values and beliefs surrounding healthcare and an ability to identify and respect an alternate view
  • Be cognisant of limitations in own knowledge and seek appropriate resolution
  • Maintain a safe work environment and practice
  • Recognise and respect individual patient’s cultural backgrounds, spiritual needs, religious beliefs and/or individualism of persons/patients
  • Establish professional working relationships with Consultant Psychiatrists, Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs) / Physicians, Nurses and Allied Health

 

The Location

Located in Melbourne

 

Essential Criteria

  • Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA)
  • Endorsed as a Nurse Practitioner by the NMBA
  • Current and satisfactory Police Check and Working with Children’s Check
  • Completed Master of Nurse Practitioner qualification or equivalent which must include an approved Therapeutic Medication Module
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge and understanding of psychiatric issues within the general hospital setting
  • A Current Driver’s License
