The Position

As the Associate Nurse Unit Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Providing leadership and direction to the ward to complement the strategic direction, operational processes, budget and business direction of the hospital
  • Providing operational direction for the ward to ensure efficient and effective management of the area and coordinate the delivery of nursing care that is evidence based for surgical patients
  • Being accountable for the effective management of human, financial and material resources and ensure customer service is maintained at optimal levels
  • Undertaking direct patient care as required providing guidance and support to less experienced members of the nursing team

Essential Criteria

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)
  • Minimum 12months working experience as a Registered Nurse in Australia
  • Advanced level of orthopaedic and surgical nursing skill and experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on person centred care
  • Flexible and motivated, ability to manage and led change
  • Postgraduate qualification in acute nursing (surgical or orthopaedic nursing). If no qualification, willingness to undertake relevant postgraduate studies (desirable)
  • Advanced assessment, problem solving and organisational skills (desirable)
