The Position
As the Clinical Nurse Specialist you will be responsible for:
- Providing a high standard of evidence based nursing care to patients of varying ages and cultural groups within the hospital
- You are the VMO liaison for Orthopedics and Neurosurgery and plays a critical role in the delivery of excellent customer service for VMOs and their patients
- Focusing on the assessment, provision of coordinated care and delivering high quality specialist Orthopedic and Neurosurgical patient management
- Providing nursing consultancy, advisory, education and support to patients, families/care givers and nursing staff with a focus on understanding of the surgical procedures, wound care management and treatment
- The CNS will take a leadership role in the coordination of the ward, VMO rounding, patient flow, nursing care (including providing hands on nursing care), supervision, clinical education, direction and support for Registered Nurses (RN), Enrolled Nurses (EN), Assistants in Nursing (AIN) and Graduate and Student nurses

Located in metro Perth surrounded by beautiful parklands and within walking distance to Perth City.
Essential Criteria
- Current Registration with AHPRA
- Minimum 12months experience as a Registered Nurse in Australia or New Zealand
- Minimum 3 years of clinical experience in relevant specialty with demonstrated skills in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating surgical ward care in area of specialty
- Working with Children check
- Commitment to Quality Patient Care
- Compliance with ACQSHC National standards
- Sound clinical decision making and problem solving skills
- Works well independently and within a team
- Excellent communication and customer service skill
- Basic computer skills
- Certificate IV in work place training and assessment (desirable)
- Post graduate qualification/training in specialty area (desirable)
- Experience acting as Nurse Unit Manager (desirable)
