The Position
As the Nurse Practitioner you will be responsible for:
- Providing primary woman centered healthcare to both obstetric and gynaecologic patients from menarche through their life cycle, including care for clients with an unwanted pregnancy
- Performing comprehensive family planning counseling, cancer screening, STI care and procedures (such as IUD insertion, colposcopy and biopsies of the vulva, vagina, cervix and endometrium) where identified as within a Nurse Practitioner scope of practice
- Obtaining medical histories, performing physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies; initiate appropriate treatment, including drug therapy, within privileged scope of care
- Function in accordance with legislation, conducting practice within a professional and ethical framework to deliver care that protects the rights of individuals and groups
- Liaising with key stakeholders including health professionals and services that refer to, support and enable this service

Essential Criteria
- Be registered as a Nurse Practitioner with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Nurse Practitioner candidates in Women’s Health may be accepted
- Have a minimum of five years’ experience working in a clinical environment relevant to Women’s Health
- Demonstrated experience and passion for working with clients facing an unwanted pregnancy
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to and practice collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Display strong Clinical leadership, collaboration and professional role modelling skills
- Demonstrated awareness of the current issues and trends in clinical nursing, in particular, gynaecology, maternity and termination of pregnancy trends
- An understanding of, and sensitivity to, the political dimension of developing and maintaining the Nurse Practitioner role and an ability to promote the role across the organisation in a positive manner
- Minimum 12months working experience as a Registered Nurse in Australia or New Zealand
