The Position

As the Registered Nurse you will be responsible for:

  • Working as the Senior Psychiatric Nurse you will provide psychiatric nursing leadership within mental health service
  • Responsible for overall development and implementation of training and development strategy for psychiatric nursing workforce
  • Ensuring best practice standards on psychiatric nursing within the defined service
  • Developing and promoting quality improvement activities and research
  • Developing and implementing strategies addressing workforce planning and development issues in consultation with service managers and in accord with the agreed staffing plan for the service
  • Representing the psychiatric nursing workforce within and to the management of the mental health service and the management of the broader health service within which psychiatric services are delivered
  • Increasing the utilisation of psychiatric nurse research outcomes into clinical best practice and standards
  • Supervising RPN 4 Clinical Educator and RPN5 Psychiatric Nurse Consultants employed within the service

 

The Location

Located in the outer north-west of Victoria on the banks of the Murray River. Fantastic pubs, cafes and wildlife to explore!

 

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia
  • Minimum 12months working as a Registered Nurse in Australia
  • Post graduation qualification in Education
  • Post graduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing
  • A minimum of 5 years post basic experience, including 3 years’ experience in mental health nursing
  • Demonstrated high level of knowledge and skill in mental health nursing
  • A demonstrated ability to educate staff in formal and informal settings
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well-developed computer skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of relevant accreditation framework and commitment to Quality Improvement principle
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment (desirable)
  • Previous experience in a nurse education role in a mental health setting (desirable)
