The Position
As the Nurse Educator you will be responsible for:
- Planning, developing and delivering nursing education courses/programs within the hospital
- Coordinating and providing hands on educational support and clinical teaching/facilitation and orientation to all staff, graduate nurses & students
- Providing expert clinical education and leadership, expert advice, guidance and support to all staff of the department
- Promoting a high standard of evidence based nursing care to all patients, through dissemination of current best practice knowledge
- Supervising staff compliance to annual mandatory training and completion of eLearning components
- Coordinating and assisting with delivery of mandatory training including basic life support and manual handling training
- Coordinating and overseeing the undergraduate and post graduate student clinical placement program
- Administering the student clinical placement management software
- Working in partnership with the critical care nurse education team in the coordination and delivery of the hospital ACCCN licensed Advanced Life Support programs
- Working in liaison with local universities and accredited training providers to coordinate and oversee student clinical placements
- Ensuring the maintenance of clinical competency records within the hospital
- Contributing to development and updating of policies and procedures
The Location
Located in a leafy suburb in Syndey's north, a stones throw from the beach.
Essential Criteria
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Minimum 12months working as a Registered Nurse in Australia
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment – or working towards (desirable)
- Post Graduate nursing qualifications relevant to the clinical area and/or education (essential)
- Advanced clinical competence and proven experience in clinical supervision
- Minimum of 3 years in area of education and training
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical placement requirements and experience working with undergraduate and post graduate students
- Effective presentation skills
- Advanced Life Support certification (desirable)
- Able to influence nursing and hospital practice to achieve excellent clinical outcomes
- Ability to drive change
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High degree of computer literacy
- Prior experience in the private healthcare system will be well regarded
- Be accountable for your own behavior and performance in the professional environment
- Set an example for less experienced/novice clinicians
- Passion for delivering quality patient-centred care
