  • 2 week Short-term placement
  • Accommodation is provided and travel incentives are paid
  • $65-70 per hour
  • Commencing 25th of October- must be located in Western Australia, Northern Territory, Tasmania or South Australia due to the current border restrictions

 

The Position

As the Registered Nurse you will be responsible for:

  • Providing comprehensive primary health care services and 24-hour emergency nursing service within the community
  • Ensuring current knowledge of all clinic held medical equipment, drugs and supplies and be responsible for maintaining adequate stock levels
  • Working collaboratively with Health Service Assistants and local volunteer community personnel
  • Ability to demonstrate and maintain advanced clinical practice skills/competencies e.g. BLS, ACLS
  • Appropriately Triage of patients
  • Coordinating and facilitating a local primary care health service, incorporating screening, follow-up, recall and referral with a focus on chronic disease management
  • Being first on call

 

The Location

The town is 610km North of Adelaide, with Coober Pedy 400km to the North West. It is a quirky outback opal mining town with a big heart, and a diverse cultural mix such as Aboriginal, English Hungarian and Yugoslavian. The population is around 300.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
  • Drivers license - able to drive manual transmission
  • Experience working as a Remote Area Nurse or in regional areas
  • Have experience in Emergency Nursing, acute nursing, advanced clinical practice and assessment skills
  • Have a demonstrated understanding of the principles of Primary Health care, community development and the social determinants of health
  • Demonstrated the ability to work independently, collaboratively and effectively in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Evidence utilising your experience in emergency situations and following established guidelines and procedures
  • Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to demonstrate initiative, compassion and enthusiasm
