The Position
As the Registered Midwife/Lactation Consultant you will be responsible for:
- Having a genuine interest in caring for women and their family through the various stages of pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal care
- Having excellent communication skills and enjoy working in an inclusive and vibrant environment that values and supports our diverse families
- Focusing specifically on the breastfeeding experience for the family, the lactation consultant will be responsible for providing Breast feeding education, guidance and support to staff working within the Postnatal Ward, Birthing Unit and Special Care Nursery
The Location
Located in the north-western suburbs of Sydney with plenty of shopping and dining options and many great parks and reserves scattered throughout.
Essential Criteria
- Current AHPRA registration
- Minimum 12months experience working as a Registered Midwife in Australia
- Minimum of three years relevant post registration qualifications and experience working in the provision of antenatal and post-natal midwifery services
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of quality improvement initiative using research principles to support evidence-based practice, including development of policies and guidelines
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a supportive team
- Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement individualised patient centred care
- Demonstrated professional manner when working with complex situations
- Advanced communication skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a willingness to learn new skills
- Flexibility to a seven-day roster including night duty
- IBCLC (lactation) certificate or working towards (desirable)
- Experience in Private Health Care (desirable)
