The Position
As the Midwife Educator you will be responsible for:
- Facilitating clinical teaching within the workplace, in alignment with clinical practice standards and guidelines, applying adult learning principles and utilising current evidence-based practice
- Creating rich learning experiences that build on the students capabilities, monitoring student progress towards competency as a midwife and providing constructive feedback and assessment
- Working directly with students and women to role-model woman-centred midwifery care to women of differing needs
- Upholding a supportive student-centred environment within the context of woman-centred care, including mentoring and debriefing
- Linking the University and the practice areas to facilitate useful and supportive practical learning environments
- Liaising with the multidisciplinary team in clarifying expectations and responsibilities of midwifery students
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation
Essential Criteria
- Be currently registered with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife
- Relevant midwifery and/or nursing qualifications and a minimum of five years’ experience working professionally in midwifery
- Postgraduate qualifications in relevant field e.g. Education & Training, Midwifery, Child, and Family Health and/or Clinical Leadership (desirable)
- The successful applicant will be required to undertake “Train the Assessor” training through Workforce Capability if they do not hold a similar qualification such as Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
